Hani Santana is not merely a painter. She is a listener — to nature, to emotions, to the universe, which she believes plays a part in every stroke on her canvas.

Born in Cilacap on 5 November 1976, Hani began her life through sound, not colour. Her well-established musical career has become a unique foundation that is now evident in her painting style: rhythmic, intuitive and brimming with an unmistakable energy. Without any formal art education, she has proven that true expression requires no curriculum — only the courage to be honest.

It is this philosophy that sets Hani’s works apart. In her signature thick impasto technique, she often allows natural elements—the wind, texture, light—to help shape the surface of the canvas. The result is a work that comes alive: it is not merely seen, but felt.

Since 2019, Hani has held more than 11 solo exhibitions at prestigious venues such as the Affandi Museum in Yogyakarta, the Hadiprana Gallery in Jakarta, and Keraton at The Plaza. Her works also feature in the private collections of national collectors who appreciate the spontaneity and intensity of her brushstrokes.
